“FOR THE GOOD OF THE BODY” LAB: C DISCUSSIONS:

Posted by on Oct 18, 2017 in "For the Good of The Body"

“LAB: C’s are “Living and Breathing Christ” Summer Discussion groups!  Christ is essential to Christianity and He is the source of our unity….so let’s keep Him central!

Key Concept: “God’s answer to our Human Problem is the gift of Jesus!”

Scripture to Consider: I Corinthians 1:22-24…Notice what the Jews insist on and what the Gentiles (Secular world) demand. Then notice what God provides for all instead!

Isaiah 55:8-9 says God’s thoughts and practices are higher than man’s thoughts and practices.

Discuss: HOW DOES THE POWER OF JESUS’ DEATH BRING RESTORATION (SALVATION) AND HOW DOES THE CROSS OF JESUS CHALLENGE OUR NATURAL ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT HOW RELATIONSHIPS ARE REPAIRED?

Prayer: God, help us to align our lives according to your design for us to become more and more like the image of Jesus Christ. Transform us so we represent you well! Amen.

Let the discussion begin:

  1. Our new Summer format began July 7 and after the sermon/worship service, we had our “Lab:C” discussions. This blog is one more opportunity to discuss the important truths about the nature of our thoughts about life, relationships, God and spirituality and to allow God to shape our thinking.

I Corinthians Chapter one (really the first four chapters) confront our ideas about salvation. The good news is God loves us so much, that even when we offend his sense of justice and morality, He sends a savior to restore our relationship with him, which is key to improving our human friendships as well.

How? By Jesus living well, dying on our behalf and expressing through his sacrifice the love God has for us…in spite of ourselves!

But as I Corinthians One declares-We must respond to this offer with belief that his death cancels our sin and restores our divine/human relationship.

  2. Watched Pilgrim’s Progress movie, interesting visual for journey to salvation.

  3. If I remember correctly, Pilgrim found out through trial and error that self-effort and trying to do better doesn’t provide the peace needed…but to realize God’s love is expressed through Jesus’ sacrifice to forgive our sins, properly realized results in a life of peace and meaning.
